The February 2010 issue of Fresh Ink showcases another of my poems, “Wishing Her Life Away,”  a three-stage portrait of a woman’s life from high school student to young mother to working woman.  The idea came from an older teaching colleague of mine who overheard me complaining that the week was dragging on and said,”Don’t wish your life away.”  That phrase has always resonated in my mind when I wish any tedious activity or dull stage of my life were done.   The character’s name, Winnie, was chosen to combine “whiney” with “ninny”—an apt label for such a person.  I hope you enjoy it—click on the “Poems” page.
