kids with cell

Don never gives origami frogs to kids who are looking at screens. He figures a frog can’t compete with the hypnotic dynamism of a cell phone, tablet, or game device. Luckily, we raised our daughters just before the advent of the screen explosion, but we could see the writing on the wall: parents would have a love-hate relationship with screens for their kids. The convenience of an instant babysitter, pacifier, distraction, tantrum stopper is a boon to parents. But many parents don’t want to use screens to do their parenting.

We have no advice to give since we are not professional child-rearing experts, nor are we in the thick of parenting young ones. Therefore, we would like you to chime in with any suggestions you have tried to curb your children’s fascination with screens. It would be nice to know what works and what doesn’t.
Conversely, if you are a big fan of screens, you can share your thoughts, too. Please send us a comment.
